He improved his scoring average to 13.5 points per game as a sophomore. As a junior, Evans was named first-team All- AAC alongside teammate Gary Clark, and he was a finalist for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. In the NCAA Tournament, Evans scored 19 points, mostly in the first half, in the 75–73 Round of 32 upset loss to
