. At its simplest level, an isochronic tone is a tone that is being turned on and off rapidly. They create sharp, distinctive pulses of sound. Isochronic tones are tones of any frequency that recur at regular intervals, usually rapid. Isochronic tones can quantitatively be distinguished by both the frequency or pitch of the tone itself, and by the interval or frequency of repetition of the tone. While some people claim that isochronic tones produce certain benefits in health or mental acuity, there is no reliable research that confirms or disproves those claims. One of the unproven health claims asserts that isochoric tones can be differentiated with different levels of alertness and problem-solving capabilities, associating these brainwave levels with certain states of mind as follows: Gamma: high levels of concentration, a problem solving mind. itation needed Beta: an active mind, waking state. itation needed Alpha: calm and composed mind. itation needed Theta: sleepy, tired mind. itation needed And Delta a sleeping state. itation needed No research links any particular pitch or interval of isochronic tones with any particular brainwave state. According to an article at https://www.healthline.com/health/isochronic-tones#what-they-are, "There haven’t been very many research studies performed on isochronic tones specifically. Because of this, additional research is needed to determine if isochronic tones are an effective therapy."
