History

Higashi-Okayama Station opened on 18 March 1891, initially named . It was renamed on 1 January 1906, becoming Higashi-Okayama from 20 March 1961. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.
