History

Elections of the Head of the Lugansk People's Republic are carried out based on universal, equal, and direct suffrage by secret ballot for five years. The head of the Lugansk People’s Republic is a citizen of Russia residing in the republic who does not have foreign citizenship, is not younger than 30 years old, and has the right to vote. The same person cannot be the Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic for more than two consecutive terms. The head of the Lugansk People’s Republic cannot be a member of public associations, cannot be a deputy of the Parliament of the Lugansk People’s Republic, and cannot occupy any other positions in state and public structures, or business entities.
