History
Founded in 1979, the team faced relegation to the
Suomi-sarja after losing the
Mestis
Mestis (from fi, Mestaruussarja, meaning 'Championship series') is the second-highest men's ice hockey league in Finland. The league was established by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2000 to replace the I-divisioona ('First Division' ...
regular season in 2005–06. After years of financial trouble and facing the prospect of relegation, Haukat gave up their place in Mestis and ended their hockey activities for a few years.
Haukat started playing hockey again during the season 2009–2010. Haukat started playing in
2. Divisioona, which is the fourth highest level of hockey in finland. The team was promoted to Suomi-sarja for 2017–2018 season.
