He won the league in his first season with Sepahan. However, in the middle of the following season, due to what he described as personal problems, Ashjari decided to leave Sepahan. Despite rumours which stated Malavan as his next club, Ashjari joined Esteghlal on 5 December 2012. At the end of the season, he was transferred to Malavan, the club which he started his professional career there.
