matriculated at
Exeter College, Oxford in 1605 and graduated
BA in 1609. He married Anne Munday, daughter of Richard Munday of
St Columb Minor, Cornwall, on 1 March 1622. The couple had five sons and a daughter together before Anne's death. She was buried on 3 January 1636.

Lostwithiel, becoming a member of the borough's corporation and keeper of Lostwithiel gaol.
While keeper of Lostwithiel gaol Vyvyan became involved in a feud with
John Mohun,
vice-warden of the Stannaries. He sought to be returned for Parliament using the influence of his brother Francis, in order to avail himself of
