Hajiya Haidzatu Ahmed is a Nigerian traditional ruler who has reigned as the Queen of Kumbwada since 1998. As queen, she rules firmly against domestic violence against women and is a proponent of women's education.

Biography

Hajiya is the ruler of the ancient rural kingdom of Kumbwada in Niger, with a population of about 33,000. She succeeded her grandmother as queen of the kingdom, which is ruled by women, in 1998. Her daughter, Idris, is the heir apparent. She also has a son, Danjuma Salih. As queen, Hajiya settles marriage and land disputes, keeps the peace, and is an advocate for the education of women.
