Geography
Gibson Township is in southern Cameron County and is bordered by
Lumber Township to the north,
Grove Township to the east,
Clearfield County to the south and
Elk County to the west. The township surrounds the borough of
Driftwood but is separate from it.
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and , or 0.67%, is water.
The
Driftwood Branch and
Bennett Branch of
Sinnemahoning Creek flow through the township, joining at Driftwood to form Sinnemahoning Creek, which continues east across the township on its way towards the
West Branch Susquehanna River.
Demographics
As of the
census of 2000, there were 222 people, 89 households, and 60 families residing in the township. The
population density was 2.3 people per square mile (0.9/km). There were 578 housing units at an average density of 6.1/sq mi (2.4/km). The racial makeup of the township was 96.40%

Asian, and 1.80% from two or more races.

In the township the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females, there were 107.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.9 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $27,917, and the median income for a family was $36,667. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $14,167 for females. The
