, making his debut in the competition on 31 August of that year by playing 45 minutes in a 0–0 away draw against UD Almería. On 2 November, he was sent off in the 2–1 home win over FC Barcelona B. At the end of 1999–2000, Castro also won promotion with Universidad – a first ever – appearing in 35 games the following season in an immediate relegation. Personal life
