. Prior to forming The Offspring, he was also on the track and field team at Pacifica High School, along with bandmate Holland, where he took up playing the bass guitar. Greg K. and Holland had been playing locally since the early 1980s and formed Manic Subsidal in 1983. After hiring Noodles as their new guitarist, Manic Subsidal changed their name to The Offspring in 1986. Kriesel (along with Holland and Noodles) was one of the three members of the Offspring to appear on nine of the band's studio albums, from their 1989 self-titled debut to '' Days Go By'' (2012). In August 2019, Kriesel filed a lawsuit against his Offspring bandmates Holland and Wasserman, following an alleged decision by the two in November 2018 to fire Kriesel from the Offspring and exclude him from band related activities such as studio recordings and live performances. Kriesel and his lawyers also alleged that the two conspired to "seize the business, business opportunities, and assets" of Kriesel's stake in the band without compensation. The situation is reminiscent of that of Kriesel's former bandmate and drummer
