Grantsburg is situated along the Wood River, which is dammed on the western edge of town to form the small body of water named Memory Lake. A playground and campsite have been built here. The Wood River continues west and south to the St. Croix River. The terrain is generally flat, and the land around Grantsburg is heavily wooded, though there is substantial farm acreage, especially to the east and south.
