Land of tulips

Historically, the name of the town has been recorded as Vartpadegān, Jorfadeghan, Darbayagan, Kuhpayegan, and Golbādagān. Golpayegan means "fortress of flowers" and "land of tulips" ( fa, سرزمین گلهای سرخ, translit= Sarzamin-e golha-ye sorkh).
