Glenbrook Valley was, in the ''Houston Press'''s 2009 rankings, the "Best Hidden Neighborhood" of Houston. During that year, the ''Houston Press'' stated that "hip, young-ish Houstonians" began focusing on eastside neighborhoods because many westside neighborhoods had become expensive.
