The series appeared in an ''old series'' – No. 1 (1905) - No. 25 (1927) – and a ''new series'' (NS) – No. 1 (1921) - No. 33 (1997). Some numbers of the series included several volumes. In 2012 various titles were available from Oxbow Books, a book publishing and distribution firm in Oxford. In 2022 the Edinburgh University Press was involved in the publishing and distribution of the titles in the Gibb Memorial Series.
