He was Justice of the Fourth District Municipal Court from 1894 to 1909. In 1909, he ran for the City Court, but was defeated. In 1910, he was appointed Second Deputy State Fire Marshal, and later that year First Deputy. He was Assistant
New York County District Attorney from 1916 until his death.
He died on December 21, 1917, in
St. Francis Hospital in the Bronx, New York City, of "stomach disease".
