began flying to the airport, using it as a second base for its European operations. At the request of Ryanair, the name of the airport was officially changed from ''Hahn Airport'' to ''Frankfurt–Hahn Airport''.

began legal proceedings against Ryanair in 2002, claiming the usage of "Frankfurt" in the name to be
