On 6 July 2023, Zadina agreed to a termination of the remaining two years of his contract with the Red Wings, after being placed on waivers. Zadina became an unrestricted free agent and was signed to a one-year, $1.1 million contract with the San Jose Sharks on 10 July 2023.
