Erin Healy (born April 22) is an American politician serving two terms as a member of the

from the 14th district. After South Dakota redistricting, Erin will now be running for House of Representatives in District 10.


Career


2018 election season

In 2018, Healy ran for one of two South Dakota House of Representative seats in District 14. She ran against incumbents, retired veteran and community figure, Larry Zikmund and retired teacher, Tom Holmes, who were both running for re-election in the district. Also in the race was Democrat Valerie Loudenback, vice-president and owner of Grand Prairie Foods. On November 6, 2018 Healy won the seat with 25.5% of the vote along with Larry Zikmund, re-elected with 26.5% of the vote. Healy was one of 11 Democrats and one of 19 women elected or re-elected to the House.


2019–2020 legislative session

On January 5, 2019, Healy was sworn in at the South Dakota capitol building ahead of Governor Kristi Noem's inauguration. Her colleagues chose her as the party whip alongside Oren Lesmeister and on January 8, 2019, her first session as South Dakota 14th District Representative began. She served as the Vice-Chair for the Joint Committee on Reducing the Overall Use of Acute Mental Health Hospitalizations. 2020 election season

In the 2020 general election of November 3, 2020 Healy ran for re-election against fellow Democrat, Mike Huber. Healy also ran against two Republicans, Taylor Rehfeldt, a nurse, and Tom Holmes.
