Emberá-Wounaan Comarca is sub-divided into 2 districts and 5 '' corregimientos''. Cemaco is the eastern section, Sambú is the western one.

The Flag of the Emberá Wounaan Region is a vivid representation of the resources and nature that encompasses its entire territory. The green stripe symbolizes all its natural resources. The yellow stripe is a sign of its customs and traditions and the blue stripe constitutes the wonderful hydrographic network that runs throughout its territory, especially symbolizing its imposing rivers Chucunaque, Tuira, Balsa, Chico, Jaqué, Sambú and Catfish.
