Peckianus'', ''Microsphaera menispermi'', ''M. platani'' and ''M. symphoricarpi'', and two were named after him to commemorate his contributions to the field, ''Stropharia Howeanum'' Pk. and ''Hypoxylon Howeanum'' Pk.
