Career

McParland's first post at Trinity College Dublin was as lecturer in the History of Art Department in 1973. He was elected Fellow in 1984, and appointed to the role of Pro-Chancellor in 2013, a post which he still holds in retirement. McParland founded the National Trust Archive (NTA) with Nicholas Robinson in 1976, and he holds the position of board member and Company Secretary. He co-founded the
