Career
After his education, Chowdhury joined Feni College as a lecturer. He joined the police department in 1954.
In 1964, he was the superintendent of police in Jessore District. He served as the Deputy Inspector General of Chittagong Range and then the
Special Branch

Chowdhury played an important role in establishing the Dhaka Metropolitan Police in 1976 and was appointed its first commissioner.
On 1 February 1984, Chowdhury was appointed the Inspector General of Bangladesh Police and served till 30th December 1985.
During his term, he established extensive facilities for the police in
