History

In 1871, the Kensington Township was proclaimed, named after a district of West London, England. In 1881, the Township Municipality of Kensington was formed. In 1930, it was renamed to Déléage, in honour of Jean-Francois-Regis Déléage (1821-1884), born in

and missionary in the
