Name and history
It is the only Denmark Township statewide.
The area now composing Denmark Township was long inhabited by the
Seneca Indian tribe. Peter Knapp, a
New Yorker who arrived in 1809, was the first Euro-American settler in the area.

Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
