The film was favorably reviewed by ''The Hollywood Reporter'', Ain't It Cool News, and Indiewire, although ''This is Famous'' criticized the storyline. Unlike Fisher's first two films, ''Frequencies'' has generated praise from reviewers for the creativity of Fisher's script.
