Its capital is the village of Dehestan-e Bala. At the National Census of 2006, its population was 7,512 in 1,862 households. There were 6,274 inhabitants in 1,788 households at the following census of 2011. At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 6,382 in 1,930 households. The largest of its 80 villages was Baghat, with 1,347 people.
