Early life

Tarasov was born in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast; his father,
Vadim Vadim ( Cyrillic: Вадим) is a Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Slovene masculine given name derived either from the Persian ''badian'' (anise or aniseed), or from the Ruthenian word ''volod'' (russian: волод), meaning ''to rule'' or ''vadit ...
, was a goaltender for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Russian Superleague (RSL) when he was born. Tarasov started skating when he was three years old. When he was seven years old, his family moved to Ufa after Tarasov's father signed with the
Salavat Yulaev Ufa Hockey Club Salavat Yulaev (russian: Хоккейный клуб «Салават Юлаев», Hokkejnyj klub «Salavat Julajev»; ba, «Салауат Юлаев» хоккей клубы, «Salawat Yulayev» xokkey klubı), commonly referred ...
in 2006. He joined the Salavat Yulaev's sports school, starting as a defenceman before making the change to goaltender at the age of eight.
