The son of a father of Palestinian descent and a mother of Italian and Spanish ancestries, Mustafá was born in Bell Ville, Córdoba. He started his playing career in the lower leagues of Argentine football, representing in quick succession Córdoba province clubs Talleres de Córdoba,
