Six Flags Great America's version of DC Universe was given a D- rating by John Gregory of the ''Theme Park Tribune''. Gregory criticized that "very little of DC Universe is actually new," stating how the park "dishonestly" sold "new paint and signs" and had called it "insulting" and a "deceptive marketing ploy" by the park. John of ''Coaster101'' praised the area, calling it a "huge upgrade and improvement over an area of the park," and had "appreciated" the park kept most of the original buildings.
