Citilab is related to the model of

Living Lab Living labs are open innovation ecosystems in real-life environments using iterative feedback processes throughout a lifecycle approach of an innovation to create sustainable impact. They focus on co-creation, rapid prototyping & testing and scaling ...

, a mixed public/private partnership where citizens, businesses, government agencies and research centers are involved in the innovation process. Unlike facilities for conventional research, the Living Labs aim to create and validate technologies, products, services and business models in real settings for and everyday contexts.
