Facilities

The first phase of the Cranbrook development is known as "Younghayes". A primary school (St Martin's) opened in September 2012. The Younghayes Centre is complete and is used as a meeting point for clubs. There is also a neighbourhood centre with a general shop and a pharmacy. The second phase includes a second primary school and a secondary school as part of the Cranbrook Education Campus, as well as a town centre. As of 27th April 2022 there is still no town centre, despite a large and growing demand for one to be built. Promises were given in late 2021 by East Devon District Council that an agreement had been reached for a Morrisons supermarket to be built south of the Cranberry Farm pub, to be open in September 2022. As of 27th April 2022, no foundation or building work has been started. In addition, developers Redrow Homes are consulting with the local authority to build a further 1035 new homes.
