History

Established in 1936–38, the community received funding from the
Works Progress Administration The Works Progress Administration (WPA; renamed in 1939 as the Work Projects Administration) was an American New Deal agency that employed millions of jobseekers (mostly men who were not formally educated) to carry out public works projects, i ...
to build the high school and its gymnasium. The original facilities continued to be used by the district until a fire destroyed the high school in 1973. The current high school building was completed in 1976.
