The Islamic Councils ( fa, شوراهای اسلامی), formerly known as the Provincial Societies ( fa, انجمن‌های ایالتی و ولایتی, anjoman-ha-ye ayalati va velayati) are local councils which are elected by public vote in all cities and villages throughout Iran.
