Name and history
Chester Township was organized in 1812. This township was named after
Chester County, Pennsylvania, which was the native home of some of the first settlers. It is one of five
Chester Townships statewide.
Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on January 1 of the following year.
