Background

Krysiak was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 9, 1939. She graduated from The Catholic High School (all girls) and then attended the University of Maryland and the Community College of Baltimore. Prior to taking office she was a supervisor in the Baltimore City Department of Finance. She was of Polish descent.

Krysiak met her future husband, Charles J. Krysiak, at a Catholic Youth Organization dance. They married in 1962, and together they had five children and lived in the Bayview, Baltimore, Bayview neighborhood of Baltimore.
