History

Carlson was most likely given the name from a local family. In the middle of the 1930s, Carlson had a store, several houses, and 25 residents. 100 people were living in Carlson in 1945, while 61 people did so in 1972. On county highway maps from the early 1990s, the village was identified only by name. The population was still listed as 61 in 2000.
