Carbondale Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania and is respectively named for the adjoining city of Carbondale. The township is located near Scranton. The population was 1,126 at the 2020 census. The village of Childs is located in Carbondale township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and (1.65%) is water.


Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,115 people, 461 households, and 321 families residing in the township. The population density was . There were 495 housing units at an average density of 35.9/sq mi (14/km). The racial makeup of the township was 97.6% White, 1.2% Black, 0.1% American Indian, 0.3% from other races and 0.9% from two or more races.
