In 2013, ''The Cairns Post'' won the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers’ Association (PANPA) Award for best regional Newspaper of the Year Dailies (5-6-7 days) circulation 10,000-25,000. In March 2015, Jennifer Spilsbury was appointed editor, becoming the first female editor in the paper's 132-year history. She replaced editor Andy Van Smeerdijk.
