in 1906 as ''Kaffee-Handels-Aktiengesellschaft'' (Coffee Trading Limited). The company's founder was
Ludwig Roselius

, who codeveloped the first commercial decaffeination process.

Eduard Scotland designed posters and packaging, and are credited with designs that defined the company.
