Founded in 1968 as ''Chimia Brazi'', the club promoted for the first time in
Divizia C The Liga 3, most often spelled as Liga III, is the third level of the Romanian football league system. Its name was changed from Divizia C to Liga III before the start of the 2006–07 season. It was the first in this format (six series of 18 t ...
at the end of the 1971–72 season, ''Chimiștii'' won Prahova County Championship and qualified for the Divizia C promotion play-off, where they faced the champion of București Municipal Championship, Uremoas București, and they won without major difficulties, (4–0 at Brazi and 1–1 at București).
