Background
Death
On 15 April 1985 a bus accident in the Nazimabad area led to the death of a Mohajir girl, a college student named Bushra Zaidi. The reckless driver, who was caught and pursued in the courts, was a Pashtun.
Aftermath
The killing caused a spark of tensions which broke out into riots as ethnic Pashtuns and policemen were attacked my students especially students in Orangi Town of Karachi, where ethnic group were seen as singularly responsible for car accidents. The riots were estimated to have killed more than 100 people.
