In 1948, during de jure educational segregation in the United States, the district had two schools for black children. - CITED: p. 85. In 2018, the district closed Elias Boudinot Elementary School, which had served grades K-2, citing declining enrollment, the opportunities to reduce costs and the potential to raise funds by selling the site.
