, for twenty-five years. Osborne worked as the editor and then the publisher of the '' Dallas Morning News'' while at Belo. He would later become the president of Belo's publishing arm and a member of the board of directors before retiring in 2007 as a publisher emeritus. Osborne died of a brief illness at a hospital in Dallas on August 15, 2012, at the age of 75. He was survived by his wife, Betty, and a son, Jonathan.
