History

The Brunet Castle was built for the Brunet family to the architectural design of
Alfredo Azancot Alfredo Azancot (born 1 February 1872, dead 1937) was a Portuguese architect, born on São Tomé Island and educated at the École des ponts ParisTech. He emigrated to Chile, and designed many buildings in Viña del Mar, including Brunet Castle, ...
, with Jorge Schroeder Espinoza was project architect. The castle was purchased by

in 1940. Shortly after, he hired Schroeder to remodel the castle. In 1945, it was used as a summer residence by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has been listed since May 9, 2000.
