With a once-thriving textile and railroad economy now firmly in the past, Bruceton has become something of a
ghost town struggling to maintain an identity as a community. The town was named after William P. Bruce, a VP of the N.C. & St. Louis Railroad, who determined the railroad route would run through the town.
