History
At its settlement, the town was called "Lexington". When the town was organized January 10, 1849, the name was changed to "Arcade". In the winter of 1850, the name was again changed to its present-day name of Brooklyn.
Geography
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 47.2 square miles (122.4 km
2), of which, 35.4 square miles (91.8 km
2) of it is land and 11.8 square miles (30.6 km
2) of it (24.99%) is water.
