The business was founded by owner Efrem Fesaha in 2012. According to ''Eater Seattle'', "As Fesaha developed the roastery, he established partnerships with farms in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, and other African countries, and focused on supporting woman-owned growers."
