Birjhora Mahavidyalaya was initially started by a sponsoring committee headed by Sri P.B. Chaudhury, MLA. With the active support of the local community, the college was taken over by the state's Ministry of Education under the deficit Grand-in-Aids system, and the college was provincialized in December 2005. The college is affiliated with
