Bibern is first mentioned in 1366 as ''ze Bibron''.


Geography

Before the merger, Bibern had a total area of . Of this area, or 61.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 30.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 8.0% is settled (buildings or roads), or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes.
